Senior Standards and Monitoring Officer, National Disability Authority’s Centre for Excellence in Universal Design
As Senior Standards and Monitoring Officer with the National Disability Authority’s Centre for Excellence in Universal Design I head up the National Monitoring Body for the EU Web Accessibility Directive. Previously I worked as a senior Universal Design advisor with the CEUD and as the first Public Sector Equality and Human Rights Duty Manager with the Irish Human Rights Equality Commission.
I have led the development of national and international guidelines, standards, policy, education and technical projects with the NDA, W3C, European Commission, and UN agencies such as UNESCO and the ITU. I have been an evaluator of FP6, FP7 and more recently Horizon 2020 R&D projects for the European Commission.
I am an associate lecturer on human rights and equality with the Institute of Public Administration and am undertaking an LLM by research with NUI Galway. In my spare time I coach hurling, run, play disc golf and develop and translate accessible elearning courses.
